Dean of Division of Continuing Studies and Vice Provost for Lifelong Learning search and Screen committee

February 13, 2011 Leave a comment

A total of 7 candidates have been selected for interviews by the committee.  It has been a long process.  The committee has been meeting somewhat weekly on Wednesdays from 10am to noon in Bascom Hall.  Interviews are to begin this week.  Each candidate will have a two-hour interview.  Questions to be asked of interviewees have been updated and revised from a previous search and screen committee for position of similar stature.  Interview questions were carefully considered based on Chancellor Martin’s and the committee’s desires for the candidate to assume this position.  The committee made efforts to encourage a diverse pool of applicants for this position.  We accepted applications well past the initial deadline to enhance our pool.  Interview questions remain confidential.

Within the next month, the seven interviews will be held.  The committee will select 3-5 final candidates to advance to the chancellor’s committee which will determine the best candidate.  Candidates selected for the final stage will be required to give a formal public presentation as part of the interview process.

Dean of the Division of Continuing Studies (DCS) search and screen committee

The search and Screen committee for the next Dean of DCS has met a total of 4 times beginning the 20th of Sept. 2010 when Chancellor Martin came and spoke to us about the qualities she felt were of importance for the future dean (also with a second title: vice-provost for lifelong learning).  I will include in this initial blog a link to the position announcement, which the committee finished after the second meeting.

The most recent meeting was for the purpose of reviewing several applications for the position.

Please offer nominations for anyone you think would be an asset in this position.

Please post any specific questions on this website and I will respond as appropriate!

Communicate if this issue is important to you and I can help represent your viewpoints.

Thank you!

I apologize for not beginning the blogging sooner, but I plan to update after each meeting correspondingly.
